Avient Corporation will showcase its portfolio of specialized and sustainable materials solutions and services, including recycled and bio-based thermoplastics and elastomers, next week at France Innovation Plasturgie (FIP). FIP is a trade show for plastics, composites, and rubber in Lyon, France.
Recycled Materials for Automotive and Luxury Packaging
Focusing on consumer, transportation, and luxury packaging industries, Avient will present the latest additions to its sustainable solutions portfolio. This includes a preview of its new reSound™ REC Recycled Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPEs) for automotive interiors (AF 7210 series) and Gravi-Tech™ REC Recycled Formulations for luxury packaging. Following are the additional product details:
reSound™ REC Recycled Content TPEs: The new AF 7210 series of reSound™ REC TPEs contain 51–59% recycled content. These include a minimum of 37% from post-consumer recycled (PCR) sources, including closed-loop feedstock from within the automotive industry. These new grades provide comparable performance to virgin TPEs. These can reduce product carbon footprint by 8-18%* when compared to virgin equivalents. They support automotive customers looking to adhere to the targets proposed as part of the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive. The directive stipulates that 25% of the plastics used in vehicles sold from 2030 must be from recycled plastics, and of that, 25% must be from closed-loop sources.
Gravi-Tech™ REC Recycled Formulations: These density-modified engineered polymer materials include up to 98% recycled content. These offer a more sustainable alternative than density-modified grades based on prime or virgin polymers. This can reduce product carbon footprint by >70% compared to a similar virgin alternative*. It can provide the luxury caps and closures market with an alternative to metal, which is typically associated with higher processing and molding costs.

Additional show highlights from Avient include other materials from its sustainability portfolio, including bio-based and recycled TPEs, polyolefins, nylons, and density-modified formulations. Visitors can also experience live sample printing from Avient’s 3D printer, which will incorporate polymers from the company’s sustainable solutions portfolio.
“
At Avient, we’re not just imagining a more sustainable future in the consumer, transportation, and luxury packaging industries - we’re helping to create it,” said Matt Mitchell, director of Global Marketing, Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient. “
With increasing demand from our customers to incorporate more recycled content in their materials, we are pleased to showcase these innovative materials that offer higher recycled content and comparable performance to virgin materials.”
Avient will exhibit at France Innovation Plasturgie from June 4-7, 2024, at booth C55 at the Eurexpo Convention Center in Lyon, France.
