RED MARFIL

Development of polymers from renewable sources with improved properties
for application in high-consumption and high-added-value industrial sectors.

The MARFIL Network is made up of the AIMPLAS, AITIIP, CIDAUT and GAIKER Technology Centres, a multidisciplinary team of 4 technology centres with excellent capabilities in the development of biopolymers, raw materials from alternative sources to petroleum with a lower environmental impact, more easily recyclable and/or biodegradable.
The grouping of these 4 centres will develop through this project a strategic research, development and innovation programme focused on strengthening the capacities that unite the centres for the development of biopolymers, additives and reinforcements as eco-innovative raw materials with a lower environmental impact than their petroleum-derived counterparts.
The acquired capabilities will be disseminated at different levels to promote collaboration with leading research groups, increase industry interest in the development of sustainable raw materials and products and raise awareness in society of the environmental advantages of bioplastics for use in applications such as food safety, lightening and improving agricultural practices ensuring the resilience of supplies, etc.
