SHAPE-MEMORY POLYMER HAVING SELF-EXPANSION AND BIOFILM-REDUCTION PROPERTIES, AND USE THEREOF AS MEDICAL MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a shape-memory polymer obtained by crosslinking a copolymer of caprolactone and glycidyl methacrylate with polycaprolactone, and a medical structure manufactured using same as a medical material and a method for manufacturing the medical structure. The shape memory polymer according to the present invention has excellent biofilm-reduction properties in addition to self-expansion properties, and when manufactured in the form of a medical tube or stent and inserted into vascular tissue in the body, adheres closely to the vascular tissue to suit the shape of the vascular channels in the body from the diameter expanding due to body temperature, thus not only facilitating the patency for the fluid in the vascular channel, but also reducing the frequency of repeat operations because the risk of the medical tube or stent becoming blocked again is low due to the excellent biofilm-reduction properties. Also, the shape-memory polymer has the advantage of being easy to replace even in the case of a repeat operation due to low probability of adhesion to the tissue in the body.
