Disclosed is an aqueous personal care composition, particularly in hair care composition comprising 0.1 to 10 <i>wt.</i>% of low substituted carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) alone or in combination with 0.01 to 10 <i>wt.</i>% of at least one natural or synthetic polymer, 0.01 to 60 <i>wt.</i>% of at least one additive; and water; wherein, the low substituted carboxymethyl cellulose has an average degree of carboxymethyl substitution (DS) per anhydroglucose unit is in the range of from about 0.5 to about <0.7.
