The present invention relates to a method for obtaining polycaprolactone (PCL) from polycaprolactam (nylon-6), wherein the method comprises: (a) depolymerising polycaprolactam (nylon-6) into monomeric caprolactam; (b) converting the monomeric caprolactam into the nitrosylated derivative thereof; (c) converting the nitrosylated monomeric-caprolactam derivative into monomeric caprolactone; and (d) polymerising the monomeric caprolactone into polycaprolactone (PCL).
